OLD GLORY
After receiving this flag as a gift in 1824, Capt. William Driver named it, sailed with it worldwide, hid it during Tennessee’s secession, and raised it over Nashville when Union forces recaptured the city in 1862.
STAR-SPANGLED
BANNER
Commissioned in 1813 for Fort McHenry in Baltimore, this flag added stars and stripes for Vermont and Kentucky. Its enduring presence after an 1814 British bombardment inspired Francis Scott Key to write the national anthem.
48-STAR U.S. FLAG
1912 | 48 STATES
Flown longer than any previous U.S. flag, this one spanned two world wars and eight presidents. In its most iconic moment, the flag was raised by six servicemen on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima.
